The pursuit of justice is an unrelenting battle, police officers dedicating their lives to pursuing the criminal element to safeguard the community.
On May 21, a woman’s life was changed forever. Enduring an act of cruelty which will haunt her for years to come. She was kidnapped by a 38-year-old man from a tavern in Madadeni. Taking the woman to his home, the perpetrator exposed the woman to a hellish nightmare.
Over the next three days, she would be assaulted and raped by the perpetrator. Once she managed to get away from him, she immediately opened a case at the Madadeni Police Station.
Receiving information on the suspect’s whereabouts, members of the Amajuba Cluster Task tracked the alleged rapist down and took him into custody. He is set to appear before the Madadeni Magistrate Court.
In a separate incident, the team proceeded to go to Uitkoms Mine in the Utrecht area and teamed up with members from Memel SAPS.
They arrested a 26-year-old suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm, a magazine and ammunition.
Captain Jabulani Ncube, Newcastle SAPS spokesperson, explains the serial number of the weapon was filed off and the suspect is now detained at Utrecht SAPS. The suspect will appear at Utrecht Magistrate Court.
