As the winter season slowly eases in, the Oval Track geared up to warm racing enthusiasts up on Saturday, May 5.
At Newcastle Raceways’s monthly racing event, spectators and racers alike were revved up for a night of adrenaline-fuelled racing.
Stephan van der Merwe clinched first place in the Rookie Division. He was followed by Elzaan Venter in second position and Liam Lindeque in third. The 1600 division win went to Wilma Lindeque. Ali Jamalodeen and Zaakira Khan came in second and third place respectively.
Tiaan Buys sped into first place in the 1660 division. Kevin White claimed second place, while Craig Lindeque secured third place.
The two-litre division was won by Willie Erasmus, with Gideon Hand and Shauat Khan taking second and third place respectively.
Francois Greyvenstein roared into first place in the Hot Rod division, with Gideon Hand following closely in second place, and Willie Erasmus taking third position. Kevin White dominated the Heavy Metals division, securing first place. Henk van Rooyen sped second place and Craig Lindeque in third place.
The win for the Go-Kart division went to Thabo-Jan Ntobokoane.
