Newcastle Golf Club hosted its ever popular, annual golf day on Friday, April 20, with approximately 80 players taking to the fairway. Competitiveness was in the air, along with a vibe of good old fun.
The Businessman’s Golf Day has two purposes. “The day is held to raise funds for the Golf Club. This is done to ensure it is well maintained for golfers, for many years to come,” says Gary Williams, on behalf of the club.
Furthermore, Williams says the event also forwards business people the opportunity to invite their suppliers to socialise on the course.
Gary also thanked the generous and much appreciated sponsors, who contributed to the day. There were also five waterholes which added to the atmosphere and general ambiance of the event . A phenomenal lunch was served and lots of liquid refreshments were on offer to keep the golfers hydrated.
“A special word to Trevor Smith Sports, who for their 50th years of support to the town and surrounding area, arranged that the Pro-shop was on hand showcasing all the latest equipment from Taylormade. Needless to say, some players still managed to hit a few shots wayward,” Williams added.
The day ended off with prize giving, great music and an all around spirited social engagement.
