In modern day society, people rush around their daily lives. Continuously searching for meaning in their lives whilst fulfilling their dreams.

Yet there are those who endure darkness which many cannot see. People who are waging an ongoing war against depression and anxiety.

As depression and anxiety chews away at them, these people usually suffer in silence. Alone in the turmoil that crushes them from within. But while they struggle to escape the dark, cold clutches of depression and anxiety, there is a glimmer of hope.

Mediclinic Newcastle is currently running a free weekly support group for those living with depression and anxiety. The group is registered with the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG), Africa’s largest mental health support and advocacy group.

Focusing on healing, anyone is welcome to attend the support group. No formal diagnosis is necessary.

The group is a community-driven initiative and is a safe and friendly environment for members to discuss their situations, share information and ideas and offer support to one another.

The meetings take place every Tuesday at the Kintsugi Centre, Mediclinic Newcastle. It starts at 6 pm and is open to people living with anxiety or depression. There is no cost involved.
