Cricket lovers took to the sports grounds this weekend, with two matches heating up the weekend. Ensuring sports lovers had much-needed entertainment to keep them enthralled.
Newcastle Phoenix Cricket Club faced Lennoxton Cricket Club in a fast-paced match on Saturday, January 26.
Winning the toss up, Phoenix opted to bat first, ensuring it rose to the occasion. Graham Sharp and Henri Linde, once again led from the front, scoring a great opening 50 run partnership.
During its time on the cricket pitch, Phoenix scored 174 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Following Phoenix’s stellar performance, Lennoxton then took to the pitch, scoring 145 runs.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) came into play, leaving Phoenix the victors of the match.

Following Phoenix’s great match on Saturday, the Amajuba Promotion Team took on Ladysmith Cricket Team at Arbor Park Sports Grounds on Sunday, January 27.
Winning the toss, Amajuba elected to field first, believing they could take advantage of the home ground. However, winning was not on the cards for Amajuba.
Ladysmith was bowled out for 126 runs in 41 overs. Batting second, Amajuba was bowled out in 81 runs.
