The search for the missing 14-year-old teenager, has finally come to an end.
Mizlizeka Khanyile was located hiding at a friend’s house in Osizweni following an intensive investigation.
Detective Captain Nagesh Moothilal of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, explains the investigating officer, Sergeant Khoza, received information on the teenager’s whereabouts earlier today, September 12. He immediately followed up, rushing to the house where she was seen. “She is safe and unharmed,”assures Detective Moothilal.
The story initially broke on Monday, September 10, with her distraught mother begging her to return home. On video, her mom begged the teenager to come home, sobbing her heart out.
She went missing on Wednesday, September 5, after running away from the boarding school she attends in Utrecht. She allegedly went to a boyfriend’s house in White City, also in Utrecht. But, when the teenager heard her mother was heading to the boyfriend’s house with police, she fled again.
Police immediately began searching for her. Her mother frantic, worried about Mizlizeka’s safety.
The community showed immense support by sharing both the video and article. Through the community’s assistance, her mother can sleep peacefully tonight.
From all of us at the Newcastillian, a big thank you goes out to everyone who assisted in finding Mizlizeka. And the person who reported seeing her.
