True beauty transcends physical appearance. It captivates the mind, the heart and the very imagination of those who come into contact with it.
Throughout the ages, true beauty has been the benchmark by which we base clothing lines, trends, products and so much more.
These breathtaking women being comprised of two elements. A unique and full of life personality and of course, crowd-stopping looks.
This month, we showcase a true Newcastle beauty, Benita Swanepoel. A person who captivates the hearts of those she meets with her bubbly laugh and full of life personality.
What does beauty mean to you?
“I see someone as beautiful when they show integrity and respect. Respect in themselves, others, the beliefs of others, other people’s cultures and staying fixed and true to themselves and what they believe in. I also feel beauty means displaying confidence, showing charity, having self-worth and valuing one’s self.”
What make-up item can you not go without?
“I would have to say my mascara is my most important make-up item,” smiles Benita. This is because she believes her eyes are her strongest feature.
What is your favourite brand of make-up?
“It is a struggle between Maybelline and Essence,” says Benita. Due to having sensitive skin and prone to allergies, Benita explains, the Essence make-up range helps greatly as it doesn’t trigger her allergies.
Which high end make up brand you have always wanted to try, but haven’t had a chance to as yet?
“I have always wanted to try Bobby Brown, as they have a large range of quality products and a variety of eye shadows and lipsticks.”
When it comes to women and girls taking care of themselves, what do you feel is important?
“I personally try to keep a consistent sleep schedule with eight to nine hours of sleep. I also avoid coffee, energy drinks, opting rather for water and drinks such as green tea. I think instead of having sweets, people should rather have fruits.”
Benita is also a firm believer in taking vitamins and avoiding stress. “Stress adds wrinkles and makes you look older. If you plan your days properly, you can avoid stress to a certain degree,” she says.
Benita also believes women and girls should always have a good moisturiser on hand, to ensure their skin remains hydrated.
Why is it important for young girls and women to take care of themselves?
“When you look after yourself, you are showing the world what you think of yourself. You are showing respect to your body and appearance. If you do not take care of yourself, you are showing the world and others it is okay to treat you with less respect than you are worth. At the end of the day, you only have one body and you need to look after it.”
With Benita believing in self-worth, respect and the importance of self-care, one cannot deny the words of Audrey Hepburn who once said, “The beauty of a woman is not in a facial model. The true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years.”
Benita is a love-filled individual, whose passion for life and big personality truly shines through when meeting her.
Congrats on being selected as the Newcastle Beauty of the Month!
