Various motorists escaped severe injury and almost certain death this past weekend—seeing Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel assisting multiple people. These incidents come as a reminder to be cautious and conscious while on the roads.
The first incident took place at FW Beyers and Drakensberg Lane’s intersection on Friday, 26 February 2021. A motorist allegedly skipped a red traffic light, colliding with a stationary vehicle in the middle of the intersection. This resulted in the alleged offending motorist losing control of his car, crashing through a nearby property’s perimeter wall.

Both motorists were transported to hospital, and the matter is now under investigation to establish what exactly transpired.
Following this, EMS staff were called out to an accident on the Memel Road on Saturday night, 27 February 2021. Sources on the scene explain the motorist’s tyre burst, resulting in the driver losing control of his vehicle. After attending to the injured man on the scene, ER24 proceeded to transport him to hospital for further treatment.

The third incident noted a car and a truck colliding on the R34, Utrecht Road, on Sunday night, 28 February 2021. According to a source, the motorist allegedly turned in front of the truck resulting in the large vehicle colliding with the car, pushing it off the road. Fortunately, all survived with only one of the three occupants in the vehicle being injured and transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution, ensuring roadside collisions and fatalities are kept at a minimum.
