This is the time for joy, compassion and love—and in light of this, doing its part to uplift and spread the spirit of Christmas, the Newcastle Municipality Office of the Mayor, recently visited the young Newcastillians at Morester Children’s Home.
As the children divided into a wholesome dinner, courtesy of Newcastle Mayor Dr Ntuthuko Mahlaba, Newcastle Municipality Governance Manager, Sli Kubheka shared a message on behalf of the Mayor. “The festive season is a time to share and spread goodwill. This is also a time to renew our spirits and reflect on how blessed we are. This year, one of the biggest blessings for us all was to merely being alive, and for that, we must be grateful.”
Furthermore, she said with the Mayor spreading his spirit of generosity, it is hoped that Newcastillians might follow in his footsteps. “We learn to do good by witnessing the good done by others. Mayor Dr Ntuthuko Mahlaba would also like to emphasise that you can achieve and become anything, despite your unfortunate background. He urges each one of you to study hard so that you can change your fortunes for the better. He also wishes you a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year,” says Kubheka.
With the sweetness of laughter filling the air, the spirit of Christmas indeed came alive at the home. A special thank you goes out to all those involved in the initiative, ensuring the children experienced a happy and supportive day.
