Those living in sections of Pioneer Park have been left in the dark and then the light and then the dark again. Wondering if it is loadshedding plaguing the area or a glitchy substation, the Newcastillian – Online Daily News spoke with a local Councillor in order to obtain insight into the matter.

According to Councillor Bertie Meiring, the cause of the power cuts are a result of an electrical cable being damaged between the Holiday Inn and the Townlands Substation, which is situated near Ferrum High School.

Cllr Meiring explains the cable was damaged by construction workers installing the fibre lines. “Some areas will be without power for the next 2 to 3 hours,” Dr Meiring explained in a message.

However noted, the power is sporadic. Therefore, please be sure to unplug appliances until the issue is resolved, as the surges in power could result in damages. what are your thoughts on the matter?

  1. That is such nonsense why can they not just turn off power until repair is done. If infrastructure laid was proper with maps then the guys wouldn’t hit any cables but they dont know where all their cables are so hence the issues. Its the municipality that doesn’t know where exactly cables are.
