A sense of romance prevailed, with couples reaffirming their love for each other. It is Friday, February 14 and that means Valentine’s Day. A day earmarked entirely to love and romance.

In honour of the day, Drakensberg Primary School held a Valentine’s Day Dance. An event which gave Newcastillians the opportunity to pack their picnic baskets, spend time with their loved ones, while socialising with friends and dancing to a live band.

While celebrating the day of love, this was not the sole purpose of the fun-filled event.

The Valentine’s Day Dance acted as a fundraiser for the school’s upcoming tour, where the school’s first teams will be travelling to Amanzimtoti from March 17 to March 20.

Through the funds raised, the school hopes to assist parents in covering the travelling costs, as well as taking the learners’ to uShaka Marine World. Thereby, ensuring learners can experience the joys of the coast, while enjoying the opportunity to participate in netball, hockey and rugby matches.

With couples uniting to celebrate Valentine’s Day and support the school’s sports teams, the night was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
