Newcastle will be experiencing a power outage of epic proportions this coming Sunday, February 16, with 17 suburbs to be left in the dark.
This follows an important notice from the Newcastle Municipality, warning residents of the impending power outage.
Newcastle Municipality’s Head of Communications, Mlungisi Khumalo says the power outage will be taking place from 5am until approximately 2pm.
Why will Newcastle be experiencing a massive power outage on Sunday?
Khumalo explains that on Sunday, the Newcastle Municipality will be conducting emergency repairs on its 132kv communication lines. He emphasises that the repair work is compulsory, in order to prevent a total blackout.
The areas which will be affected are:
- Amiel Park
- Pioneer Park
- Aviary Hill
- Hutten Heights
- Barry Hertzog Park
- Amajuba Park
- Ncandu Park
- Sunset View
“We would like to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. We urge our residents to make the necessary preparations the day before the power outage,” Khumalo concludes.
