Newcastle Hockey Club hosts successful Golf Day – The home of new age media!

A misty morning welcomed 63 golfers at Kilbarchan Golf Club on Saturday, July 13. Despite the cool winter morning and the mist, these golfers were on a mission.

Teeing-off for the Newcastle Hockey Club’s Annual Golf Day. An initiative to raise funds for the hockey club, so it can assist players to attend tournaments while helping with the club’s running costs.

With the mist falling back and weather conditions becoming ideal for a day of golf, the participants found the event an ideal way to support the local sports club.

While the aim of the day was to help the hockey club raise funds, a competitive atmosphere prevailed with golfers competing for the win.

Manie Mostert and Sarel Nienaber clinched the win on the day, securing first place for themselves. Following in second place is Frik and Mariet Matthee, with Japie Schoeman and Sias Weyers in the third position.

The award for getting Closest to the Pin goes to Victor du Preez and Mariet Matthee. The Longest Drive title goes to Sias Weyers and Mariet Matthee.

“We would just like to thank Kilbarchan Golf Club for letting us host our annual golf day. Thank you to Dalene and Johan Hugo for all their help,” says Craig Pedersen of Newcastle Hockey Club.

Pedersen further thanked the golfers for making the day possible, as well as thanking the sponsors.

“A massive thanks must go out to all the sponsors. Without them, none of these golfers would have been spoiled at the prize giving. Lastly, I would also like to thank my committee for their help and dedication to our sport,” concludes Pedersen.

With a day filled with socialising, fun and supporting local sports, the day was a resounding success.
