2019 Food Forward SA Mandela Day Food Drive

July 12 to July 14 – The 2019 Food Forward SA Mandela Day Food Drive in partnership with Pick n Pay is one of the largest national food drives in South Africa, providing much-needed basic food items to vulnerable communities.

As a community-driven initiative, the Newcastle Lions Club is stepping up to the challenge and will be participating in the drive. On Friday, July 12, Saturday, July 13, and Sunday, July 14, Newcastle Lions will be standing at the mini Pick n Pay stores in both Hutten Heights and Pioneer Park, as well as at the Pick n Pay Central branch. Be sure to show your support and get around to one of the Pick n Pay stores at one of the following times:

Friday, July 12, from 10 am until 5 pm

Saturday, July 13, from 10 am until 5 pm

Sunday, July 14, from 10 am until 5 pm

There is quite a golfing weekend ahead, for those who enjoy the sport.

Newcastle Hockey Club’s Annual Golf Day

July 13 – Newcastle Hockey Golf Club will be hosting its second annual golf day. The event will be taking place at Kilbarchan Golf Club.

The golf event is a fund-raising initiative which sees the hockey club assist its players in attending tournaments whilst lightening the load, by helping with the club’s running costs.

Promising to be a fun-filled day, full of laughs and memories, the format will be Scramble Drive/ Better Ball. Entrance fee is R180.

Esperanza Special Needs Charity Golf Day

July 13 – Esperanza Special Needs School will be hosting its annual charity golf day at Newcastle Golf Club. The Charity Golf Day acts as a fund-raising initiative to assist with the school’s running costs.

To participate in the event, the entrance fee is R200 per person and Newcastle Golf Club can be contacted on 034 318 7200 to secure a spot.

Rand Club Jazz Evening: Friday, 12 July

Rand Club is proud to present the first in a series of Jazz evenings in their basement club venue.

This week features the magnificent Godfrey & Angus Jazz Collective featuring the flamboyant, delightfully talented Tamara Dey.

Chocoloza Chocolate Adventure Evening: Friday, 12 July

A must for chocoholics. The divine Belgian chocolate shop Chocoloza in 44 Stanley hosts a special chocolate tasting evening with the chance to learn first hand what goes into making the finest handmade chocolates and an opportunity to try your hand at chocolate making. There’s also a blind chocolate tasting session, a chocolate tour of the kitchens and included in the price you get a chocolate drink of your choice and a box of the finest to take home.
