With winter officially setting in and residents searching for the warm comfort of their homes, it seems the cold weather is no deterrent for the criminal element.
This follows two intelligence-driven operations run by the oSizweni Policing Area, where two suspects were arrested.
During the first intelligence-driven operation, oSizweni Policing area with the assistance of oSizweni Crime Prevention members followed up on information submitted to them.
Going to Nxumalo Stand in Blaauwbosch, oSizweni, the officers spotted a suspicious looking man on the public road. Upon searching him, they recovered two speakers for a car’s stereo system.
According to Newcastle SAPS spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Ncube, it is suspected the speakers are stolen. The suspect is now in police custody and there will be further police investigations into the matter.
However, the man will appear in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court for being in possession of suspected stolen goods.
During the second intelligence-driven operation, the oSizweni Policing area, worked alongside the Newcastle Public Order Policing Unit, following a tip-off regarding drugs.
A man was found in Section B, oSizweni, standing along the public road next to Ngcobo Garage. The police officers immediately stopped and searched him,
The officers recovered a staggering 11 full mandrax tablets and one quarter mandrax tablet from him. The suspect will now appear in Madadeni Magistrate’s Court.
