Newcastle man wanted for robbery and attempted rape

Newcastle SAPS knows no boundaries in the pursuit of bringing the criminal element to justice.

As the SAPS targets the criminal element, there are times when the police require the assistance of the community. Therefore, please share this article to ensure this man is brought to book.

The Newcastle FCS Unit is searching for a man in the following identikit and is appealing to the community for assistance in locating him.

The suspect is wanted for robbery and attempted rape. This follows an incident that took place on May 21 at an open piece of land near the Spoornet train tracks.

The suspect is a black male, medium in complexion and his height is estimated between 1.60 to 1.65m.

Anyone who has seen or knows the whereabouts of the suspect is requested to contact Investigating Officer, Sergeant QW Williams on 082 376 3081.

In a separate incident, the Newcastle Public Order Police conducted an operation in Weenen on June 7. During the operation, a 60-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Continuing their search for the criminal element, the unit recovered an AK 47 rifle and ammunition ranging in calibre at a home in the KwaNomoya area at Sahlumbe location.
