Brazen robbers target Edgars at Theku Plaza

On Saturday, May 11, an unknown number of men stormed Edgars at Theku Plaza, oSizweni. Firearms in hands, the men charged into the store at approximately 11 am. Their mission to escape with as much money and merchandise as possible.

Newcastle SAPS Spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Ncube says the men escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, clothes and cellphones with an estimated value of R235 000.

“At 11:55 am, members of Amajuba Cluster attached to Operation Fiela, who were off duty at the time of incident went the extra mile by placing themselves on duty. With the assistance of a tracking company, the officers managed to trace suspects to a house in Section 7, Madadeni.

Dedicated members attached to Ops Fiela consisting of Warrant Officer Matthew Rose, Constables Mncube, Mtshali, Kubheka, Ndlovu, Thwala and a member from Newcastle Crime Intelligence raided the said house.

At the house, the officers recovered one CZ 75 9mm pistol with its serial number filed off, 9mm live ammunition, cellphones and clothing.

However, the suspects are still at large. Police investigation continues to locate the perpetrators. If you know the whereabouts of these criminals, please contact the SAPS, to ensure justice is served.
