At just 16 years of age, Sharnê Dheochand is a vision of beauty. A teenage model with a natural sense of grace and style.
“I started modelling when I was in Grade 6 to boost my confidence and it is something I have always wanted to do,” she explains.
Finding immense joy in modelling and flourishing as a young woman, Sharnê is making leaping strides within the community. Through her bubbly and vibrant personality, she is both the face for the 2019 Winter Festival and Miss Home Meah.
Instead of simply wearing her crown on special occasions, she uses her titles to participate in charitable causes.
She has collected sanitary pads for less fortunate girls, collected clothing and blankets for both Home Meah and Morester Children’s Home. Sharnê also organised a Valentine’s Ball for Morester, while spending time with the children from both Home Meah and Morester Children’s Home.
Setting her sights on greater things, Sharnê took part in Miss Bedazzle Newcastle on March 16. A pageant which focuses empowering the youth of Newcastle, while searching for an ambassador to stand out from the crowds.
Organiser of Miss Bedazzle Newcastle, Mbali Dlamini explains the aim of the pageant is to empower women to rebel against society’s standard of beauty, celebrating their imperfections and differences. Empowering them to be highest version of themselves.
Taking place at Amajuba College Hall, Sharnê dominated the pageants ramp. Taking first place, with Londiwe Nkosi taking the title of first princess and Karabo Mlambo named second princess.
With a promising future, what is Sharnê planning for the future?
“My plans for the future are to go bigger, better and go as far as possible with it. After school, I would like to look at a career in acting or something similar, as acting is also a passion of mine,” she says.
Who is Sharnê’s role model?
“I would say my future self is my role model. Instead of looking up to others, I would like to be a role model.”
As Sharnê grows into a flourishing woman, she is set to dominate the modelling industry. Proving that nothing can compare with a home-grown beauty.
