Police confiscate stolen cars and drugs over the weekend

The SAPS is clamping down on crime, pursuing drug dealers in the war against drugs.

An intelligence driven operation was held from March 8 to March 10, with the oSizweni Crime Unit and Newcastle Public Order Policing (POP) unit following up on information relating to drugs in oSizweni.

On March 8, the two units went to a house in Section F, oSizweni, where three halves of mandrax tablets and five quarters of mandrax tablets were recovered. One suspect is now in police custody.

Then on March 9, the two units descended upon a house in Section B, oSizweni, where eight Mandrax tablets were recovered and the person was taken into police custody.

On the same day, the two units proceeded to go to a home in Section E, oSizweni, where they recovered a Ford Tracer vehicle. The vehicle was found with no registration number plates, nor an engine and was allegedly stolen in the Booysen area.

Another stolen car was recovered on March 10, when the two police units went to a house in KwaMakhasana, oSizweni. The police found a white Mazda 323 with no number plates, which was allegedly stolen from Newcastle.

The three-day operation is a success with the suspects facing charges for their respective crimes. They will appear in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court soon.
