Newcastle Corner to host Blikkies Fees for Morester’s children

A summer’s weekend offers an ideal opportunity to unwind from your week, whether at the poolside, a braai with friends or a hiking excursion. But, earmark this weekend as a time to visit Newcastle Corner.

Newcastle Corner is injecting some good old positivity into the community, through its Blikkies Fees.

Set to take place on Saturday, October 27, the Blikkies Fees will see local singers such as Douglas Vrey, Anton Fitchat, Belinda Ellor, Yolandi Appel, Andre Smith, Nadia Coetzee and Monica Johnson Moster performing live.

The Huttenpark Trompoppies and Stepping Out Dance Academy will also put on a dazzling performance.

There will also be an array of art, crafts, home baked and accessories stalls which will cater for everyone’s tastes.

However, the biggest attraction for the day will the be popular Afrikaans singer and actress Sorina Erasmus. Or as she is better known, Sorina die Flooze.

Her debut album Engel met ‘n Angel was released by RMD in 2007. After that, EMI released two further albums from her, called: Hoezit my Tjomma, and the latest album, Ek watch jou.

She also plays the role of the Witbank flooze in 7de Laane and featured in Dryfsand on KykNet.

With the Blikkies Fees set to start at 9 am and finish off at 3 pm, Newcastillians will not have to worry about a monetary entrance fee. Newcastle Corner’s marketing manager, Marianka Knox says the entrance to the event is a simple can of food.

“All the food will be going to Morester Child and Youth Care Centre. There is a real need at the house and we truly want to help the children.”

Because of this, Knox is encouraging the community to support the Blikkies Fees.

With live entertainment lined up for the day and an array of stalls, this event is not to be missed. Not only does it offer an escape from your daily routine, but it also allows you to reach out the less fortunate.

Spots are still available for stalls at R50 per stall. Interested parties can contact Marianka Knox on 072 125 5846. Stall forms can also be collected at the Newcastle Corner’s centre manager, Stephen Albertus’s office.

“We at Morester Child and Youth Care Centre have 50 children we accommodate. With the prices of things going up, this is is a blessing for us. We are truly grateful and we would like to thank Newcastle Corner for holding this event on behalf of the children’s home,” says Belinda Ellor of Morester.

Be sure not to miss out on the Blikkies Fees and help collect cans of food for Morester Child and Youth Care Centre.
