A vibrant energy surged through the school grounds, with a tingling air of excitement filling Drakensberg Primary School this past weekend.
The primary school played host to two fun-filled days, beginning on Friday, August 24, with a Night Cycle Race. The event was divided into three categories, that of the pre-school children, junior children and adult races.
With scores of parents and children either participating or cheering on the racers, the evening proved to be a resounding success.
Then on Saturday, August 25, the Buitelugfees took place.
This saw a 4×4 trail offered by NTT Nissan Newcastle, which kept the adventurous adults entertained. A flea market, giant inflatables and potjiekos competition were also held, catering to the community’s tastes.
With a festive spirit prevailing, fires were lit from 5pm, with guests’ attention shifting towards the stage. The main attractions on the night, were popular South African singers, Brendan Peyper and Kurt Darren. Who brought the festivities to life, much to the excitment of the Newcastle community.
Brendan Peypar started the night’s musical entertainment, followed by Kurt Darren. But the night’s entertainment did not see these two artists perform by themselves.
Drakensberg Primary School’s prefects took to the stage with Kurt Darren. With a choreographed dance, especially made for the night, the youngsters showcased true Drakies talent alongside the singer.
After the show, guests continued enjoying an evening of socialising, creating new memories and just have a great time, at Drakensberg Primary School.
Well done to Drakies for putting together a true community event, which was loved by all in attendance.
