KFC Mini Cricket Festival to instill a love for sports

The digital era too often sees children exchanging outdoor fun for social media and video games. The importance of sport neglected for a keyboard or a cellphone.

Yet, there is a glimmer of hope. There are children who still embrace the joys of sport over technology. Come August 11, the KFC Mini Cricket Festival will take place at Paradise Sports Grounds.

The KFC Mini Cricket Festival is focused on instilling a love for cricket amongst primary school children. Through introducing children to the joys of cricket at a foundation phase, the cricket festival encourages our young ones, to pursue the sport through their school and adult lives.

The KZN Cricket Union and Newcastle District Cricket Association is hosting the event. Schools from Newcastle, Madadeni and Osizweni will be taking part. Through several schools taking part in the festival, children will be able to interact with others, while developing a deep-seated passion for sports.

Adding to the day’s fun, a player from the Dolphins will be in attendance. Also, the Newcastle Presidents XI will play against Varsity College.
